Rene Marie: The Words Mean Nothing?

Singer René Marie was introduced by City Council President Michael Hancock to sing "The Star Spangled Banner" on Tuesday at Mayor John Hickenlooper's annual State of the City address. But instead of singing "Oh say can you see," Marie sang "Lift ev'ry voice and sing," the first verse and the title of the song known as the black national anthem or the negro national anthem.

The "Audacity of Dope" offers yet another insight into individuals who in self promoted attempts to shock our Nation into a racial divide ... or whatever? She knew what she was doing and confided her plan to her husband.

Whether it's a "Black Power fist salute" at an Olympic Awards Ceremony or this misguided attempt at agenda driven "pride," the result will always be the same ... notoriety for the one instigating the incident and added racial tension among citizens of our great Nation. Lessons learned seem quite distant.
