The real reason it's "harder for us to use them" in Afghanistan: Iraqis speak Arabic or Kurdish. The Afghanis speak Pashto, Farsi or other non-Arabic languages.
While it seems Obama's gaffes started with the first time he opened his mouth or put pen to page ( ... OK, he may be computer literate?), the majority of the U. S. Electorate might empathize with him on one or two occasions, but since he is a POLITICIAN "on the stump" ... anything he says is for the most part, posturing. He, like many before him, will say ANYTHING if it will serve his purpose.
