The 10,340-square-foot home, apparently planned for Wright's retirement, sits on land purchased by the pastor in 2004 for $345,000. In September 2006, the church applied for a building permit, and in December 2006 he sold the land to his church, which took out a $1.6 million mortgage on the property.Trinity officials declined to comment. The church's national office said it is 'customary and appropriate in many Christian denominations, including the United Church of Christ . . . to offer housing provisions for retiring clergy' after years of service.
